You, how do you eat short pasta?

Morbi vitae purus dictum, ultrices tellus in, gravida lectus.

Short pasta is eaten with a fork only, making mouthfuls not too big. And so far it all seems simple; but how many of you insert the prongs, the tips of the forks into the hollow of the short pasta? Never do it! Remember that being at the table is not a game, much less a pastime. Alone or in company, it is important to adhere to rules that however facilitate how to eat and also avoid dirtying tablecloths, napkins, dishes and even clothes.

And with the soup or soup broth, what do we do? This is served in the soup plate which will never be filled to the brim. It is taken with the spoon which must be held between the thumb and forefinger and placed on the middle finger; usually we find it positioned on our right, exactly before the knife. It should not be filled by drawing it from the edge of the plate towards us, but in the opposite direction, that is, with a movement that goes from the edge of the table towards the center. The spoon is not introduced too deeply into the mouth and the broth is consumed all at once; therefore, we avoid filling it a lot and above all without draining the broth, it would be decidedly embarrassing. The spoon should go perpendicular to the mouth and not horizontal; then, bend it slightly towards your mouth so as not to cover your face with your whole hand. An important tip: Never suck, but slide the broth!

If you also want to collect the last spoonfuls, you will tilt the plate towards the center of the table and not towards you, a practice that is not recommended in any case. It is always better to leave a little broth than to start playing with the pot. You do not blow on the broth to cool it, but wait a bit for it to cool down naturally and do not mix with the spoon to evaporate the heat. The soup is eaten as it is served: no morsels of bread or water are added if it is too hot or salty. If you want to add salt, it must be taken from the salt shaker with the special spoon and not with the tip of the knife or fingers. Once the soup is finished, the spoon must be placed perpendicular inside the plate. There are those who assert that the spoon could also be positioned at the edge of the table, but it would be a serious mistake because the tablecloth would suffer with evident halos of gravy.
